FAQs - Spotner

1. How do age spots develop?

Age spots are spots on the skin that result from exposure to sunlight. The colour of age spots can range from brown/black to reddish. They are found on the areas of skin most frequently exposed to direct sunlight such as hands, arms, face, chest and neck areas. As skin ages it is less able to recover from sun exposure. Where skin cannot regenerating quickly enough, this can leave spots of darker, highly pigmented skin known as age spots.

2. Do I have age spots?

The colour of age spots can range from brown/black to reddish. They are found on the areas of skin most frequently exposed to direct sunlight such as hands, face and neck area. The spots are small and flat, with a rounded shape, and look similar to large freckles. As skin ages it is less able to recover from sun exposure. The skin not regenerating fast leaves spots of darker skin known as age spots. Age spots tend to develop from the age of 40. They vary in colour depending on the amount of sun exposure, unlike birthmarks and moles, which are permanent discolorations of the skin.

3. How can I prevent age spots?

The best way to prevent age spots is to avoid sun exposure and/or use protection such as high SPF sunscreen and sunblock.

13. How do the ingredients in Spotner work?

The formation of new age spots isprevented by UV (A+B)-Filters in combination with 3 different lightening substances (Alpha-Arbutin, Gigawhite, Sepiwhite).

Age spots are mainly formed because of exposure to the sun. The deposit of melanin in the upper layers of the skin is responsible for the formation of the spots.

UV-filters block the radiation of the sun and help to decrease the formation of pigmentation. Alpha-Arbutin, Sepiwhite and Gigawhite promote lightening and an even skin tone on all skin types.

The alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) in spotner help to increase the renewal rate of the skin thereby allowing age spots to fade and giving a smoother, younger appearance.

14. When will I see first results?

The first results can often be seen within a week or two of first use (in consumer tests, 70% saw a difference in 2 weeks or less). Deep or long established pigmentation may take longer however, please be patient and ensure regular application twice a day. The spots will gradually fade away.
